My theory is that DHX wasn't prepared for a third season right away, and that they had to scramble a bit at the cost of episode quality. I'm hopeful that the fourth season won't suffer from this.
after the worst season AND the worst finale...it cannot be good. If some writers are dumb enough to change drastically and suddenly a character just like that in such a rushed and senseless FINALE...I am worried. purple crappy princess...I won't feel bad if i stop watching the show from now on. mlp could stop for me at 64 episodes.
I have faith in the writers. I mean season 3 was pretty good on it's own(Wish it was 26 episodes). I'll patiently wait and see. Who knows? It might kick ass.
I think the writers have done a fine job overall thus far. Each season's had good episodes, great episodes and lame episodes. Season 4 will be much the same. Well, objectively speaking at least. Not everyone will agree with that assessment, but it's what I've perceived to be the case. I find most people with a poor opinion of the show these days tend to be fans disillusioned with the fandom and hasbro. The sheen and novelty has worn off as we approach season 4 and allot of people are feeling testy and upset at all the change that was inevitable.
Me though, I've always enjoyed the show with child-like optimism. I don't watch episodes for in-depth and compelling plots, that was never FiM's strength (and anyone who thinks it was needs to re-watch the old episodes with the same cynicism so many view the new ones). I watch this show for the characters and their interactions. THAT is the show's strength and from where I'm sitting it's maintained it throughout all three seasons.
Besides, I don't take ponies and my headcanon as serious as others. So why should I worry? Any episodes I don't like I forget quickly, in favor of reminiscing about the ones I do enjoy.
